🚫 Why We Can’t Treat You with a Cold Sore – Protecting Your Health and Smile 🚫

At Dental Studio, your health and safety are our top priorities. If you have a cold sore, we kindly ask that you reschedule your appointment. Why? Let’s dive into the details to ensure you’re informed and empowered about this important aspect of oral health.

What Are Cold Sores?

Cold sores, are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1). They’re not just a nuisance, they’re highly contagious. The risk of spreading the virus is greatest just before a blister appears and while the blister or scab is present.

Why We Can’t Proceed with Treatment:

🔹 Risk of Spread and Infection
The HSV-1 virus can easily spread to other parts of your face or even to our dental team. In rare cases, dental professionals have contracted the virus, leading to serious complications like blindness. Ensuring everyone’s safety is paramount for us.

🔹 Delayed Healing
The virus can interfere with your body’s natural healing process, making it harder for your mouth to recover after treatment. This can lead to increased discomfort and a longer recovery period.  Not the outcome we want for you.

🔹 Optimal Care
We believe in providing the best possible care when you’re feeling 100%. Rescheduling ensures your treatment is comfortable, effective, and timely.

Tips for Managing Cold Sores:

Here are some practical steps to take while you’re waiting for your cold sore to heal:

  • Replace your toothbrush: Once your cold sore heals, swap out your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head to prevent reinfection.
  • Practice good hygiene: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after touching your cold sore, use a separate towel or flannel from others in your household.
  • Avoid kissing and oral contact: Do not kiss anyone, especially babies, or engage in oral sex while you have a cold sore, you could give your partner genital herpes. Neonatal herpes can also be dangerous for newborns.

We’re Here for You!

If you have a cold sore, simply give us a call to reschedule your appointment. We’ll find the soonest available time to continue your smile journey once you’ve fully recovered. Your health matters, and we’re committed to keeping you safe. 😊💙
